Stats from 1911 census.
The Scotsman newspaper dated March 28 1911 states that the number of enumerators was around 9000. Edinburgh 520, Glasgow 823, Dundee 178 and Aberdeen 158.
The report by Patton-MacDougall includes a thank you directed to all the staff who worked on it and names Mr Andrew Froude and Mr John J Cossar who were the supervisors on the project. Also mentioned were Dr Tocher, lecturer on statistical methods in the University of Aberdeen, who advised them on "the selection of statistical methods, and by freely criticising portions of the work submitted to him". Also Mr R M Hunter, member of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland "by applying his mathematical skill to the graduation of the Single Ages Table", which appeared in the second volume.
For the first time the 1911 census requested details of nationality. The table below details the number of people born in the UK but outside Scotland.

Of the total population of Scotland 30.96% consists of males of 10 years of age and upwards having remunerative occupations and 12.46% of females of these ages and occupations. Of these numbers those English and Welsh are 67,733 or 41.02% and 19,186 or 11.62%. Irish are 88,809 or 50.83% and 15,459 or 8.85%.
